My career journey began when I started working as a counselor 11 years ago after graduating from East Tennessee State University’s counseling masters program. I have worked as a counselor in an in-patients drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility, in medication assisted treatment clinics, in community mental health centers, and for the past 9 years in private practice. love working with people who are motivated to improve their quality of life by investing in mental, emotional, and physical health. I am grateful that I have found a career I find meaningful and fulfilling, and that allow me to express my creativity and perspective on growth and change. My goal is to provide quality, affordable, transformative, and therapeutic counseling.
COUNSELING
Talk therapy is a beautiful thing. I have been lucky enough to benefit from amazing therapists, and have also witnessed impressive and poignant self discovery and healing in others. I do not ascribe to one specific counseling theory; I embrace a more eclectic framework. The theoretical frameworks I typically use are Acceptance and Commitment, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral, Existential, and my own brand of deep exploration. I believe being in touch with personal values is extremely important, so I will share some of my career values with you to help you understand my counseling philosophy: personal growth, emotional exploration, mindfulness, empathy, honesty, freedom, and humor (just to name a few). I work particularly well with people on issues such as (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, compulsive behavior, transitions into adulthood, etc.
